Yoga Retreat in CangguID
Bali's most popular surf and yoga hub. Beach breaks for beginners, reef breaks nearby for intermediates, wall-to-wall retreat studios.
Why here
Canggu has the highest density of serious yoga studios and retreat centres outside of India. Styles range from Ashtanga to Yin, with week-long immersions, 200hr teacher trainings, and day-drop-in options all within a few square kilometres.
Best months
Year-round. Shoulder season (Oct–Apr) slightly quieter and cooler. Studios maintain full schedules regardless of season.

Desa Seni
Retreat centerAn eco-resort and yoga village in the heart of Canggu built around a collection of antique wooden joglo houses imported from Java and Sumatra. Daily classes cover Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Kundalini, and Restorative yoga across two open-air shalas, with visiting international teachers running weekend immersions and multi-day retreats. The property's Yoga Alliance-accredited teacher training programme draws serious practitioners wanting depth beyond a standard retreat. Farm-to-table meals, an on-site spa, and a working organic garden round out a stay that functions as a genuine village rather than a hotel.
Serenity Eco Guesthouse and Yoga
Retreat centerOne of Canggu's longest-running yoga and wellness centres, operating since 1999 on Jl. Nelayan with five dedicated shalas and 9 daily classes spanning Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin, and restorative styles. The eco-guesthouse on site makes it easy to structure a full-immersion retreat: accommodation, daily practice, a vegan restaurant, and spa treatments all in one compound. Founding director Daniel Chieppa's permaculture ethos shapes everything — solar power, grey-water recycling, and an organic kitchen garden keep the environmental footprint light. Popular with surfers and yogis in equal measure; the surf break at Batu Bolong is a 150-metre walk.
The Practice
Retreat centerA traditional yoga shala set back in the rice fields off Jl. Batu Bolong, 500 metres from the beach. The Practice runs daily classes in Tantric Hatha, Yin, and Yoga Nidra, with an emphasis on lineage-based teaching rather than fitness-oriented flow. The teak-and-bamboo studio hosts intimate groups — rarely more than 20 students — and visiting teachers lead weekend workshops throughout the year. The absence of accommodation on site is deliberate: the ethos is practice first, with the rest of Canggu's café and surf culture available the moment you step off the mat.
