Skydiving in EmpuriabravaES
A Costa Brava marina village in Catalonia built around a residential aerodrome — home to Skydive Empuriabrava, the world's most jumped dropzone with over 2.8 million jumps logged since 1985. Small town atmosphere, massive skydiving infrastructure.
Why here
Skydive Empuriabrava is the largest and most experienced skydiving school in Europe — a single dropzone that has logged over 2.8 million jumps since 1985. The approach: Mediterranean coastline below, the Pyrenees on the horizon. AFF training here benefits from consistent thermals, long jump windows from April through October, and a multi-aircraft fleet running continuous lifts throughout the day. The dropzone culture is deeply international, drawing licensed jumpers from across Europe who treat Empuriabrava as a seasonal base.
Best months
Mediterranean climate delivers reliable flying from April through October. The Tramontane wind can close the DZ on short notice, particularly in spring and autumn, but the overall weather window is among the longest in Europe. Visibility is typically excellent — clear views to the Pyrenees from exit altitude on most days. Summer is the prime season for both volume and reliability.
Getting there & around
Fly into Girona-Costa Brava Airport (GRO), 30 minutes from the dropzone. Barcelona El Prat (BCN) is the main hub — approximately 2 hours by car or bus. The aerodrome is in Empuriabrava / Castelló d'Empúries; follow signs to the Aeroclub. Accommodation in Empuriabrava or nearby Roses.
