Scuba Diving in Plakias
A small village on Crete's Libyan Sea coast, backed by the Kotsifos and Kourtaliotiko gorges. The seabed off the nearby Schinaria beach drops fast enough for depth training within swimming distance of shore, which is why Crete's freediving happens here rather than on the resort north coast.

Phoenix Dive Club
SchoolPhoenix Dive Club operates from Plakias on the south coast of Rethymno, Crete, and is listed by PADI as a 5 Star Dive Resort at Ag. Vasiliou, 74060 Rethymno. It runs PADI courses from beginner through advanced, along with junior programmes and specialty courses focused on marine life. The centre describes itself as the first PADI dive centre in Crete, with more than twenty years of operation. It opens Monday to Saturday, 09.00-15.00 and 18.00-19.00, and is closed on Sundays.
