Scuba Diving in Pensacola

United States Β· North America

Panhandle wreck diving, including the USS Oriskany, the largest vessel ever deliberately sunk as an artificial reef.

Why here

The USS Oriskany, an aircraft carrier sunk deliberately in 2006, sits in 65 metres with its flight deck at around 43. It is the largest artificial reef in the world and a genuine technical objective.

The Oriskany is a deep dive. The flight deck is beyond recreational limits for most divers and the island structure is the only part in normal range. Gulf visibility is best in summer.
