Best months
Visibility 20-30m year-round. Water temp 18-26°C — cooler Nov-Mar, 3mm wetsuit recommended. Current minimal at most sites. Blue Hole: vertical shaft to 100m+, advanced only — divers die here annually attempting the arch at depth. Canyon and Lighthouse reef: suitable for beginners and confident OW divers. Marine life: reef fish, stonefish, lionfish, occasional hammerheads and whale sharks at the Blue Hole.
Getting there & around
Fly to Sharm el-Sheikh (direct from UK/Europe, or via Cairo). Bus or shared taxi to Dahab takes 90 minutes. All dive centres on the Mashraba waterfront. Daily diving $15-25 per dive. Multi-week divemaster training packages widely available. No car needed. ATMs limited — bring USD or EUR.
