Best months
Visibility 20-30m year-round. Water temp 26-28°C. Current minimal at most west coast sites — ideal for independent diving and skills practice. Marine park: no anchor, no gloves, no collecting. 86 yellow-painted rock markers indicate named sites around the island. Best macro in the Caribbean: seahorses, frogfish, flying gurnard, lettuce sea slugs, nudibranchs throughout. East coast: surge and current, advanced only. Night diving off Town Pier: dense invertebrate life, seahorses.
Getting there & around
Direct flights from Amsterdam (KLM), Miami, and New York. Flamingo Airport is small and efficient. Rent a truck or 4WD — part of the Bonaire diving ritual. Most resorts have on-site compressors and fill stations. Tanks available at multiple stations around the island for self-guided dives. Marine park fee ($45/year) on arrival. USD accepted everywhere.
