The Cannes Film Festival is the world's most prestigious cinema event — 12 days in May when the Croisette becomes the global center of the film industry. For attendees without industry credentials the experience is still substantial: the parallel sections (Directors' Fortnight, Critics' Week, Un Certain Regard) are publicly accessible, red carpet viewings are free to anyone with patience, and the town itself transforms into a concentrated film culture moment unlike anywhere else.
