Driving Experiences in NurburgDE
A village in the Eifel hills and home to the Nurburgring Nordschleife -- 20.8km of racing circuit open to the public during tourist laps. The most demanding and celebrated track in the world for everyday drivers.
Why here
The Nurburgring Nordschleife is 20.8km of public road-based circuit open to paying drivers on tourist lap days. It combines 73 named corners, 300m of elevation change, and a surface that exposes everything a driver and car can do. No other circuit of this complexity is publicly accessible anywhere in the world. The Nordschleife is used by every major manufacturer for final vehicle development testing for a reason: if it works here, it works everywhere. On tourist lap days, you pay per lap, bring your own car or rent one on site, and drive it at your own risk. The experience is without equivalent.
Best months
Tourist lap days run April through October, with closures for race weekends and private test bookings. The circuit calendar is published but can change; check the official site before traveling. Surface conditions change across the 20.8km: some sections stay damp for hours after rain due to forest shadowing. Fog, rain, and cold are all possible even in summer. A wet Nordschleife is a fundamentally different challenge from a dry one.
Getting there & around
Frankfurt airport (FRA) is 90 minutes by road; Cologne-Bonn (CGN) is 60 minutes. Accommodation in Nurburg village is basic and limited; most drivers stay in Adenau (10 minutes), Koblenz, or Cologne. On-site car rental companies provide track-prepared vehicles for those without their own car. Personal vehicles are permitted; rental cars from mainstream agencies are explicitly not (their insurance policies exclude circuit driving). Motorcycle use is permitted. Entry fees are collected at the gate on tourist lap days; no advance booking required. A current driving licence from your home country is sufficient.
