Why here

Monaco's Grand Prix circuit is public road. You cannot drive it at speed during normal life, but the actual tarmac of Casino Square, the tunnel, and the chicane at the swimming pool are roads you can drive any day of the year in a road car. Specialist companies offer guided supercar tours of the circuit layout with experienced local guides, covering the corners at road speed while explaining the racing history and context. Nearby tracks in Pau (France) and at the Circuit de Charade near Clermont-Ferrand provide organized track time for those who want to combine the Monaco cultural experience with proper circuit driving.

Best months

April through October for road tours; the climate is Mediterranean and reliable. The Grand Prix weekend in late May closes sections of the circuit layout and makes parking near impossible, but the atmosphere during race week is unlike anything else in motorsport. Autumn is less crowded and the light on the harbor is exceptional.

Getting there & around

Moderate logistics

Nice Cote d'Azur airport (NCE) is 30 minutes by road or helicopter. Schengen rules apply; no separate Monaco visa. Parking in Monaco itself is very limited and expensive; most visitors base in Nice, Menton, or Villefranche-sur-Mer and drive or take the train in. Supercar rentals available from both Monaco-based and Nice-based companies. The principality is 2km by 1km; a full driving circuit tour covers most of the Grand Prix layout in under 30 minutes.
