Why go
The World Creole Music Festival is Dominica's flagship event and the biggest celebration of Creole music anywhere, three nights of live performance each late October at Windsor Park Sports Stadium in Roseau. Staged since 1997 by the national tourism authority as the centrepiece of the island's Independence season, it grew out of Dominica's own homegrown sound, bouyon, the fast, bass-heavy style born here in the late 1980s, and cadence-lypso, and puts it on the same bill as zouk, soca, reggae, dancehall, kompa and afrobeat from across the Creole-speaking world. Headliners come from Guadeloupe, Martinique, Haiti, Africa and the wider Caribbean diaspora alongside Dominica's own stars, and the crowd is a mix of returning diaspora, regional fans and travellers who time a trip to the island's biggest week. It lands during the Creole heritage season that also fills Roseau with jing ping bands, Creole dress and street food, so the festival is the loud heart of a fortnight of national culture rather than a standalone concert. For anyone who wants to hear Creole music at its source, this is the one weekend to be on the island.

What to expect
The festival runs over three nights on the last weekend of October, staged under lights at Windsor Park Sports Stadium in Roseau. It falls at the tail of the Atlantic hurricane season and the wetter half of the year, so pack rain cover for an open stadium; nights are warm. The 2026 edition, the 26th, is confirmed for 23 to 25 October at Windsor Park. Tickets sell as single-night and season passes through the official festival channels, and the surrounding Creole heritage season means events across Roseau all week, so book accommodation early as the capital fills up.
Getting there & around
Windsor Park Sports Stadium sits on the edge of central Roseau, walkable from the town's hotels and guesthouses, so most festival-goers stay in or near the capital and go on foot or by short taxi. The island's air links are regional flights into Douglas Charles airport on the north-east coast, about an hour's drive over the mountains from Roseau, so build in transfer time. Buy tickets through the official festival site in advance, as the last weekend of October is the island's busiest and rooms in Roseau go early. Nights run late; the wider Creole season fills the week around the festival with music and street events.
