Rostiljijada is Serbia's barbecue capital doing the only thing it would ever consider doing with a festival: closing the main boulevard of Leskovac for six days each late August and grilling for roughly half a million visitors, with the world's-biggest-pljeskavica attempt as the ceremonial centerpiece. Leskovac grill culture, the pljeskavica, the cevap, the paprika-heavy south-Serbian canon, is the country's most famous food export to its neighbors, and the festival is its full-volume argument: smoke, brass, and meat priced for everyone. The city carries Serbia's National Capital of Culture title in 2026, which will only turn the volume up.

Annual, the last week of August: August 24-30 2026, with late August 2027 expected. Entry is effectively free; you pay at the grills. Expect serious crowds on the boulevard after dark and book rooms in Leskovac or Nis ahead.
Getting there & around
Forty-five minutes from Nis by road or rail; many attend as a Nis day-and-night trip. Cash for the grills, patience for the queues at the famous stands.
