Why here
Boka Night is a bay-wide tradition centuries old: on one August Saturday, decorated and illuminated boats parade the Bay of Kotor from Muo to the UNESCO-listed Old Town waterfront, judged for creativity before fireworks close the biggest single night of Kotor's year. It descends from the maritime brotherhood culture that made the Boka one of the Adriatic's great seafaring communities, and it remains a resident's festival that visitors join rather than a show staged for them. The whole rim of the bay becomes the grandstand; the water is the stage.
Best months
One Saturday in mid-to-late August, set annually: August 15 in 2026, with the parade from 19:00 and fireworks at 23:00. Free and unticketed; book Kotor lodging months out for the weekend. Muo's shore gives the best parade views.
Getting there & around
Base in Kotor or anywhere on the inner bay; arrive early on the day as the coastal road closes. The evening ends late; taxis vanish, plan the walk.
