Bridgetown is the capital of Barbados and its historic port, set around the Careenage inlet on the south-west coast. The centre opens Monday to Friday and on Saturdays in the November-to-March high season, with tasting sessions, a cocktail workshop and lunch pairings on a fixed schedule. The full working-distillery tour is at a separate site in the northern parish of Saint Lucy. Sessions are guided and limited in size, so book ahead, especially on cruise-ship days and in high season.

The Mount Gay Visitor Centre sits on the Spring Garden Highway just outside central Bridgetown, minutes from the cruise terminal and an easy taxi from the south and west-coast hotels. Sessions range from a one-hour signature tasting to a cocktail workshop, a lunch-and-rum pairing and a longer evening experience, all booked online in advance. The full historic distillery tour is a separate trip to the working site in Saint Lucy in the north of the island. Come thirsty but plan a driver, as the tastings are generous.
