Whitewater Kayaking / Rafting in Val di SoleIT
Trentino's glacier-fed Noce river: 28 kilometers of continuous Alpine whitewater beneath the Brenta Dolomites, ranked among the world's top rafting rivers.
Why here
The Noce carries a National Geographic ranking among the world's top ten rafting rivers and the best whitewater in Europe, and the geography explains it: 28 kilometers of continuously navigable Alpine water through the Mostizzolo canyon, fed by the Ortles-Cevedale glaciers, which means reliable flows all summer while rain-fed Mediterranean rivers wither. The valley's outfitter infrastructure has matured around it since 2000, full-service centers running rafting, hydrospeed, and kayak school beneath the Brenta Dolomites, with family floats and Class IV-plus sections on the same river. Via ferrata in the Brenta fills the second half of the trip.
Best months
May through September, with the biggest glacier-melt water May to July. Wetsuits provided; the water is Alpine cold all season. Summer weekends book out a couple of weeks ahead.
Getting there & around
Fly to Verona or Milan, then rail or road via Trento into the valley; put-ins at Cusiano and Commezzadura. Outfitters handle everything.
