Whitewater Kayaking / Rafting in Konjic
The Neretva town whose woodcarving joined UNESCO's heritage list, taught by the two dynasties that made it famous.
Why here
The upper Neretva runs glacial-green through a canyon under Prenj's towers, arguably the most beautiful rafting water in the Balkans: an eighteen-kilometer day from Glavaticevo, five to six hours of grade 2-3 with a riverside grill stop, ending practically at Konjic's seventeenth-century Ottoman bridge. It is the gentle, family-grade counterpoint to the Vrbas's championship rapids, guided by internationally licensed local crews with transfers and lunch bundled at forty-five to sixty euros. The color of the water does the marketing; the canyon does the rest.
Best months
May to September, with early summer the fullest water. Grade 2-3 needs only swimming ability; children join the standard runs. Summer weekends bring regional groups, so weekdays float quieter.
Getting there & around
Konjic is under an hour from Sarajevo and Mostar by road or rail; operators shuttle to the Glavaticevo put-in. Pair with the woodcarving workshop for the full Konjic day.
