Limassol Wine Festival
Cyprus's second city and biggest port, on the south coast, with a medieval castle, a long seafront promenade and a busy events calendar. Its Municipal Gardens host the Limassol Wine Festival each autumn, and the city also stages the island's largest carnival before Lent.

Why here
The Limassol Wine Festival is the oldest and largest public celebration of Cypriot wine, and each autumn it fills the Limassol Municipal Gardens for around nine evenings. The Municipality of Limassol has run it since 1961, and continuously since 1978, gathering the big island wineries, KEO, SODAP, LOEL and ETKO, at open stands where a single entry brings free tastings poured straight from the barrel. Between the wine there is folk dancing, theatre, live music and long tables of traditional meze, grilled meat and village bread. This is a locals-first festival rather than a tourist show, and it lands at the end of the grape harvest, when the wine villages on the Troodos slopes above the city are at their busiest. Going means an evening in the gardens tasting your way through what a Mediterranean wine island actually drinks, rather than a curated cellar door. The 2026 edition is the sixty-fifth.
Best months
The festival runs over roughly nine evenings from late September into early October, opening in the early evening and running late, with the wine stands pouring for a set window each night. It is an outdoor event in the Municipal Gardens, so evenings are warm but bring a light layer for later. Weekends are the busiest and liveliest. The 2026 dates are expected to run from 26 September to 4 October, with the municipality confirming the exact programme nearer the time.
Getting there & around
The Municipal Gardens sit on the Limassol seafront, an easy walk from the city centre, the old port and most downtown hotels, and a short drive from either Larnaca or Paphos airport. Entry is by a low-cost ticket that includes tastings, and the festival is easy to combine with a wider trip through the Limassol wine villages during harvest. It is a family-friendly evening event; go on a weekday night for a calmer visit or a weekend for the fuller programme of music and dance.
