The Dragacevo Assembly of Trumpeters has run in Guca since October 1961, and it is the definitive brass-band showdown on earth: orchestras from across the Balkans compete for the Golden Trumpet while several hundred thousand people eat, dance, and are serenaded at their tables in a village of two thousand. Miles Davis's visit is local legend, entry is free and was reconfirmed free for the 65th edition, and the music does not stop, it merely moves between the competition stage and the kafana tables where the real playing happens at arm's length. There is no organizer selling you an experience; the municipality opens the village and the trumpets do the rest. Providers are deliberately absent from this row: you arrive, you follow the brass.

Annual, the first or second weekend of August: August 7-9 2026 is the 65th edition. Entry is free; lodging in the village is scarce, so most base in Cacak or the festival camps. Expect heat, smoke, and no quiet anywhere.
Getting there & around
Three hours' drive from Belgrade; buses run from Cacak. Book anything with a roof months ahead, or camp. Cash for the kafanas and the brass players' foreheads.
