Why here

Tango is not a performance in Buenos Aires — it is a social practice. Milongas (social dances) run every night of the week, and the etiquette around the cabeceo (the invitation nod) and codigos (floor rules) is taken seriously. Schools range from neighbourhood practicas aimed at beginners to elite academies with world-champion teachers. The city's economic situation makes it extraordinarily affordable for those arriving with dollars or euros.

Best months

JanFebMarAprMayJunJulAugSepOctNovDec

Year-round tango city, though the season peaks in March and August–November. The Buenos Aires Tango Festival (August) is the largest in the world, with free milongas in public plazas. December–February is hot and many locals leave for the summer; milongas continue but at reduced frequency. March through May and September through November are ideal — mild weather, full milonga calendars.
