Language Immersion in Quito
Ecuador's Andean capital at 2,850 meters, whose historic center was one of the first two UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Home of some of the clearest Spanish in the Americas.

Highland Ecuadorian Spanish is measured, crisp, and grammatically standard, which is why language teachers across the Americas point beginners here, and Quito delivers it at a fraction of Spain or Mexico City prices, with one-on-one tuition commonly 10 to 15 dollars an hour. The classroom is the best-preserved colonial center in the Americas, inscribed by UNESCO in 1978 in the list's first class, and the school ecosystem has run since the late 1980s with homestays, DELE preparation, and satellite campuses on the coast and in the Amazon. Ecuador uses the US dollar, and the weekend curriculum writes itself: Cotopaxi, the cloud forest, Tena, the Galapagos.
Best months
Year-round: the equatorial Andean climate holds between about 10 and 22 C in every month, with June through September the driest. Schools run rolling Monday starts, so the only seasonality is your own calendar.
Getting there & around
Fly direct to Quito (UIO) from US and European hubs; schools arrange airport pickup and homestays. Enroll one to four weeks ahead; stays under 90 days need no visa for most nationalities.
