Why here
Amman is arguably the leading city in the world for serious Arabic study. Stable and safe, with a Jordanian dialect close to Modern Standard Arabic, it inherited much of the student flow that once went to Damascus and Cairo, and its institutes matured accordingly. Qasid Arabic Institute is the sector's benchmark, with dual Classical and MSA tracks on a purpose-built campus that feeds university and government programs. Sijal Institute pairs MSA-plus-dialect coursework with films, lectures, and cultural programming from a historic villa off Rainbow Street. Both assume you came to work, and the city obliges: outside class, everything from taxi small talk to market bargaining is practice.
Best months
Rolling terms year-round, with flagship intensive summer programs June to August. Multi-week commitment is the norm; a semester is where the real gains live. Institutes help with housing and visa letters.
Getting there & around
Apply direct to the institutes; both are used to international students and arrange housing options. Weibdeh and Rainbow Street put daily life within walking distance of class.

Sijal Institute for Arabic Language and Culture
SchoolThe Sijal Institute teaches full-time Arabic coursework integrated between Modern Standard Arabic and Colloquial Jordanian Arabic, with an intensive summer program covering a full academic year and private or group study online over Zoom. It occupies two buildings on Umar Ibn Al-Khattab Street at Amman's First Circle, open Sunday to Thursday, 8am to 5pm. Founded by scholars of Arab culture, history, and society, it also acts as a hub for seminars, workshops, exhibitions, and informal conversation.
