Kitesurfing in ViganjHR
A one-lane windsports village at the tip of Peljesac, where the afternoon maestral funnels through the Korcula channel like clockwork all summer.
Why here
The channel between Peljesac and Korcula funnels one of the Adriatic's most reliable thermal winds: an afternoon maestral of 12 to 25 knots that builds almost daily through summer, which is why this one small village has hosted European and world windsurfing championship events and supports multiple international schools. Mornings are glassy for beginners, afternoons deliver the real wind, and the water near shore stays flat to choppy with Korcula's old town as the backdrop. It is a windsports village rather than a resort: campsites, konobas, and rigged kites on the beach, at prices that undercut the famous Mediterranean wind spots.
Best months
June through August is the reliable maestral season, with the wind building around 2pm and holding to sunset. May and September are quieter shoulders with more variable wind. Wingfoiling is taught alongside kite and windsurf.
Getting there & around
Drive from Dubrovnik or Split, or take the Orebic ferry from Korcula; Viganj is 10 minutes beyond Orebic. Accommodation is guesthouses and campsites; book summer ahead.
