Kitesurfing in AlacatiTR

A stone-house town on the Cesme peninsula whose shallow, flat bay catches the meltemi like clockwork from late morning, all summer long.

Why here

Alacati's bay is a wind-sports machine: the meltemi arrives like clockwork from ten or eleven each summer morning and builds to four or five Beaufort through the afternoon, over water that stays shallow and flat across a bay wide enough to make it one of the best learning venues anywhere. The school scene is mature and multi-flag, kite and windsurf side by side, with IKO-certified instruction available, and the town behind the water is the rare wind destination with genuine evening pull: Ottoman-Greek stone houses, vineyards, and a food scene that made Alacati fashionable long before the kiters arrived.

May through September is the meltemi season with July and August the strongest and busiest; October runs a gentler shoulder. Mornings before the wind suit first lessons; afternoons deliver the power hours.
