Horse Riding / Equestrian in Yenokavan
A forested canyon village in Tavush that became Armenia's horse-trek and adventure hub, two hours from Yerevan.
Why here
The forested Ijevan range above Yenokavan is Armenia's horse-trekking hub: a mountain resort keeps a working stable of more than forty horses running instructed rides from forest loops to multi-day mountain treks, in oak and hornbeam country that looks nothing like the stony Armenia of postcards. Next door, the country's first adventure park stacks five ziplines, a via ferrata, and horseback riding over the Khachaghbyur gorge, 142 kilometers and about two hours from Yerevan. The format is Caucasus ranch riding without pretense, mounted the same day you arrive.
Best months
May to October; autumn colors peak in October. Rides are instructed and suit true beginners, with multi-day treks for experienced riders. Book summer weekends ahead, this is a popular Yerevan escape.
Getting there & around
Two hours from Yerevan via Dilijan; the village sits above Ijevan. Combine with the Dilijan trekking row on the same northern loop.
