Witness / Attend in Sydney
May 28 – Jun 19, 2027Confirmed
Run by Destination NSW, with published dates and a real program.
Dates & details verified against: Regional tourism board ↗
Why go
Vivid Sydney is the Southern Hemisphere's largest festival of light, music, and ideas: for around 23 winter nights the Opera House sails become a canvas, the harbour foreshore turns into a 6.5km nightly Light Walk, and record-scale drone shows play over the water. More than 80 percent of the program is free, which changes the character of the thing: it is the city out walking its own harbour after dark, not a ticketed spectacle. The event is owned and produced by the state tourism agency, and the smart play is to pair the free Light Walk with one anchor experience, a harbour dinner cruise or the official festival-season Harbour Bridge climb over the illuminated city.
When it runs
Annual, roughly three and a half weeks from late May into the June long weekend.
