Why go

Open'er is Poland's biggest international music festival and one of the largest in Central Europe, a four-day event on the flat expanse of the Gdynia-Kosakowo airfield with the Baltic coast a short ride away. Founded in 2002 by the promoter Alter Art, it has grown into a multi-stage giant that pulls the year's headline acts across pop, rock, hip-hop and electronic music: the 2026 edition alone ran Florence and the Machine, The Cure, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Calvin Harris and Jennie. Beyond the music there are fashion, film and art zones and a big on-site camp, and the seaside setting and famously friendly crowd make it as much a summer gathering as a concert. For a festival traveller it is the anchor of the Polish summer.

When it runs

Held once a year over four days in early July at the Gdynia-Kosakowo airfield, organised by the promoter Alter Art. The 2026 edition ran 1 to 4 July 2026; the next edition is expected in early July 2027.

What to expect

Open'er is held once a year over four days in early July at the Kosakowo airfield near Gdynia. It is a large outdoor camping festival, warm but with the chance of Baltic rain and mud, so bring wet-weather gear. Tickets, especially four-day and camping passes, go on sale months ahead and the popular tiers sell out. The wider Tricity fills up in festival week, so sort accommodation or camping early.

Getting there & around

Gdynia is reached by train or road from Gdansk airport and the wider Tricity in under an hour, with shuttle and public transport links to the Kosakowo festival site. Most festival-goers use the on-site campsite or stay across Gdynia, Sopot and Gdansk and commute in. Buy four-day and camping tickets well in advance through the official site, and plan transport back into the city after late-night headliners.
