Why go
The Mimosa Festival has run since 1969 and is the Adriatic's signature winter-flower celebration: for most of February, while the rest of Europe shovels snow, Herceg Novi, the self-styled city of fifty thousand mimosa trees, fills with parades, majorettes, fish-and-wine days, and concerts under branches in full yellow bloom. It is the Mediterranean's low-season argument made civic policy, with mild coastal weather, a mostly free street program, and off-season prices. The 57th edition ran a full fortnight; the format is a town deciding winter is over and celebrating accordingly.
