Why go
The Bequia Easter Regatta is the great sailing weekend of the Grenadines, run over the Easter holiday for more than thirty-five years by the volunteer Bequia Sailing Club. What sets it apart is the mix: alongside CSA-rated yacht classes racing in Admiralty Bay, the regatta keeps alive the island's own wooden double-enders, the traditional Bequia workboats, and races model boats and coconut boats off the beach. Ashore, Port Elizabeth turns into a four-day party of music, food and prize-givings along the harbour. It is famous across the eastern Caribbean as the best small-island regatta, a local event that visiting sailors and spectators fold into rather than a staged spectacle. For a traveller it is the moment Bequia's seafaring identity comes fully out onto the water, and you can watch from the beach or crew on a boat if you ask around the harbour.

What to expect
A four-day regatta held over the Easter weekend, from about the Thursday or Friday to Easter Monday, centred on Admiralty Bay and Port Elizabeth on Bequia. Easter is late dry season, with steady trade winds ideal for racing. Watching from the harbour and beaches is free; crewing depends on asking around the boats. The island fills over the weekend, so book the ferry and accommodation from Saint Vincent well ahead.
Getting there & around
The regatta is based at Port Elizabeth on Bequia, a nine-mile ferry from Kingstown on Saint Vincent or a short flight to the island's airstrip. Racing is in Admiralty Bay and shoreside events line the harbour, all walkable from the ferry dock. No ticket is needed to watch; crewing is arranged informally through the boats and the Bequia Sailing Club. Ferries and rooms sell out over Easter weekend, so reserve early.
