The Macau Grand Prix turns the peninsula's ordinary streets into one of the most demanding circuits in the world for one weekend every November. First run in 1954, it races on the 6.2 kilometre Guia Circuit, a genuine street track that mixes a flat-out harbourfront straight with the notorious Lisboa corner and a tight, walled, uphill twist through the Guia hill that leaves no room for error. The bill is unusual: the FIA Formula 3 World Cup, where future Formula 1 drivers have long made their names, shares the programme with the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix and the FIA GT World Cup, so single-seaters, superbikes and GT machinery all run the same barriered streets. Watching from the grandstands at Lisboa or the Reservoir, with cars inches from the walls, is the reason to come, a motor race with nowhere to hide.

The Grand Prix runs across a single long weekend in mid to late November each year, with practice and qualifying from the Thursday and the main races on Saturday and Sunday. November in Macau is mild and drier than the summer. The circuit is a temporary street track, so grandstand tickets are timed to the raceday programme; the walled Guia hill section is the toughest test and the Lisboa bend the classic overtaking and crashing point.
Getting there & around
The circuit laps the Macau peninsula and is reached on foot or by taxi and bus from the city; grandstands cluster at the Reservoir start-finish and around the Lisboa bend near the old Hotel Lisboa. Tickets sell through the official Macau Grand Prix organisation ahead of the meeting and the city fills for the weekend, so book seats and rooms early. Ferries and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge bring in day visitors from Hong Kong and the mainland.
