Wildlife Safaris in CorcovadoCR

The Osa Peninsula park National Geographic called the most biologically intense place on earth, entered by boat from Drake Bay.

Why here

Corcovado protects the last great lowland rainforest on Central America's Pacific coast, and National Geographic's line about it, the most biologically intense place on earth, has survived decades of fact-checking: all four Costa Rican monkey species, tapirs on the beaches, scarlet macaws in pairs overhead, and jaguar tracks in the sand at dawn. Access runs by boat from Drake Bay to the Sirena Biological Station with licensed naturalist guides, mandatory since the park capped independent entry, and the good operators are Osa families whose guides grew up inside the forest they interpret. It is wildlife watching with the volume turned to maximum and the infrastructure kept deliberately thin.

Best months

Open year-round; December to April is the dry season and the easiest Sirena access, while the green season brings afternoon rain and fewer boats. Sirena day permits are capped and sell out ahead in dry season. Guides are mandatory inside the park.
