Wildlife Safaris in Chitwan National ParkNP

Nepal's UNESCO-listed lowland park, holding roughly a quarter of the world's greater one-horned rhinos below the Himalayan foothills.

Why here

Chitwan holds around 700 greater one-horned rhinos, roughly a quarter of the world population, alongside Bengal tigers, gharial crocodiles, and more than 500 bird species in a UNESCO World Heritage mosaic of sal forest and riverine grassland. Safari culture here predates most of Africa's photographic circuit: Tiger Tops pioneered wildlife tourism in Asia from this park in 1964 and still runs it with resident naturalists. The grammar is different from a game drive too, with dugout canoes past basking gharials and guided walks reading tracks on foot, and the quiet Meghauli side of the park keeps the experience at lodge pace rather than convoy pace.

Best months

October to March is prime: post-monsoon clarity, comfortable temperatures, and January's grass cutting opening up visibility. April and May turn hot; the monsoon (June to September) closes much of the grid. Jeep, canoe, and walking safaris combine over two to three nights.
