Trekking / Hiking in Psiloritis
Crete's highest massif, topped by Timios Stavros at 2,456m, with the Nida plateau as the usual approach.
Why here
The Nida plateau is the standard start for the walk up Crete's highest mountain, on a marked section of the E4. Bare limestone, shepherds' huts, and the Idaean Cave on the approach.
Best months
Snow can linger into May. No water on the route and no shade above the plateau.
