Skiing & Snowsports in Mount Parnassos
Greece's largest ski resort above the Delphi oracle, where pistes at 2,250 meters look down to the Gulf of Corinth.
Why here
Parnassos is Greece's largest ski resort and its most surreal geography lesson: eighteen lifts including the country's only two gondolas serve about 36 kilometers of runs between 1,640 and 2,250 meters, directly above the Delphi archaeological site, and on clear days you ski facing the Gulf of Corinth. The Kellaria and Fterolakka sectors give it two full bases, the longest run stretches four kilometers, and a snow park rounds out the state-operated center two hours from Athens. Apres-ski happens in Arachova, a stone hill town that turns into Greece's winter St-Tropez on weekends; weekdays the mountain is quiet and cheap by Alpine standards.
Best months
December to April, with January and February most reliable; Mediterranean snow varies, so check the base before traveling far. Weekends bring heavy Athens traffic, weekdays are open pistes. Full rental and lesson infrastructure at both bases.
Getting there & around
Two hours by road from Athens; Arachova and Delphi make the twin base towns. Lift tickets sell online through the state operator's portal.
