Finland's biggest and busiest ski resort, on a rounded fell in Kittila, Finnish Lapland, above the Arctic Circle. Levi is the only Finnish resort to regularly host the alpine World Cup, opening the technical season with November slaloms, and offers one of Europe's longest ski seasons alongside cross-country trails and Arctic winter activities.

Levi is Finland's biggest and busiest ski resort, and the only one that regularly hosts the alpine World Cup. Every November the men's and women's slalom circus comes to the Levi Black run, opening the technical season under floodlights and polar twilight. For everyone else Levi is a broad, well-groomed fell with dozens of slopes, gentle nursery areas and a long season: the front slopes can open in October and the south side runs into May, all above the Arctic Circle where snow is dependable and the midwinter light is a low blue glow. It is a forgiving place to learn or to rack up easy piste miles, with ski-in ski-out village lodging, a big cross-country trail network and reindeer and husky trips a short drive away. The resort's own ski school covers alpine, snowboard, cross-country and more for every level.
Best months
Levi's season is one of the longest in Europe, with front slopes often open from mid-October and the south slopes running to early May; midwinter days are short and very cold, with only a few hours of blue twilight in December. The alpine World Cup slaloms are held in November. Snow is machine-backed and reliable. Book lessons a couple of days ahead through the resort ski school, the only operator licensed to teach on the slopes.
Getting there & around
Levi is in Kittila, Finnish Lapland, about 15 minutes from Kittila Airport, which has direct winter flights from Helsinki and some European cities, plus a train-and-bus link via Kolari. The village is compact and largely ski-in ski-out, with lifts, ski school, rental and lodging within walking distance. A car is optional; ski buses link the accommodation areas.

Levi Ski School
SchoolLevi Ski School is the resort's official school and the only operator licensed to teach on Levi's slopes. It runs daily private and group lessons through the winter in alpine skiing, snowboarding, classic and skating cross-country, telemark, freestyle and adaptive skiing, from a first lesson on the nursery slopes to technique work on the World Cup piste. Levi's front slopes open in mid-October and the south slopes run into early May, one of Europe's longest seasons.
