Skiing & Snowsports in Kopaonik
Serbia's main ski mountain: a sunny high plateau with 70-plus kilometers of pistes and prices the Alps forgot decades ago.
Why here
Kopaonik is Serbia's flagship resort and the Balkans' template for value skiing: seventy-plus kilometers of pistes across a sunny high plateau nicknamed the roof of Serbia, modern lifts on the main sectors, and instruction, lodging, and lift passes at prices Western Europe abandoned decades ago. The teaching bench is real: licensed local schools run camps and privates across the season, and the gentle plateau topography makes it one of Europe's better learn-to-ski mountains. It will not out-terrain the Alps, but for a first week on snow or a family season opener, the math is unarguable.
Best months
December to March, with February the crowded Serbian school-holiday peak and January the coldest, most reliable snow. Book instructors ahead for peak weeks. Night skiing runs on the central pistes.
Getting there & around
Four hours' drive from Belgrade or two from Nis. The resort village is ski-in for most lodging; transfers run from both airports in season.
