Skiing & Snowsports in Kolasin
Montenegro's flagship ski mountain on Bjelasica: 45 linked kilometers, a rail link from Podgorica, and some of Europe's cheapest lift-served skiing.
Why here
Kolasin 1600, opened in 2019, is Montenegro's flagship ski area: a modern six-seat detachable lift onto Bjelasica's rounded treeline terrain, around forty-five linked kilometers with the older 1450 sector, and price lists repeatedly cited among Europe's cheapest lift-served skiing, with private lessons at roughly thirty euros an hour. The terrain suits intermediates and families rather than steep-chasers, and the logistics are almost quaint: Kolasin town has a rail link from Podgorica, so this is one of the few European ski trips that starts with a mountain railway rather than a transfer van.
Best months
December to March, with regional weekend crowds and quiet weekdays. Dedicated beginner zones and kids' programs make it a genuine learn-to-ski value play. Snowmaking backs the main runs.
Getting there & around
Rail or road from Podgorica to Kolasin town, then ten kilometers to the 1600 base. Passes and lessons book on the day outside holiday weeks.
