Paragliding in Gudauri
Georgia's biggest ski area, entirely above the tree line on the Military Highway, with a freeride reputation and lift passes under 25 euros.
Why here
Gudauri is the Caucasus's biggest tandem paragliding hub, and the signature product is the winter flight: launching from sites between 2,100 and 3,006 meters over the Cross Pass, pilots soar above the ski area's white bowls with the Military Highway switchbacking below, a view no lift ticket buys. Flights run seven to fifty minutes with 200 to 500 meters of thermal gain in summer, priced at a few hundred lari, and the established operators fly licensed pilots only, the leading outfit's chief instructor carrying over nine thousand flight hours and 6,700 tandems. Year-round flying in high-mountain air, an hour and a half from a capital city, is a rare combination.
Best months
Year-round: December to March for snow flights over the ski area, June to September for long thermal flights. Wind cancels days, keep schedule slack. No experience needed for tandems, just warm layers.
Getting there & around
Launch sites sit beside the resort and the Cross Pass viewpoints; operators meet at the hotels. Combine with a ski day in winter, the flight takes two hours door to door.

OutfitterFly4Season flies tandem paragliding at Gudauri through all four seasons, with spring thermals letting flights run longer and higher than in winter. A standard 15-minute flight costs 350 GEL with video recording included, a 30-minute long flight is 550 GEL, and a 15-minute acro flight with aerobatic tricks is 500 GEL. The team cites more than 15 years of experience and names its tandem pilots, Lasha Lazviashvili and Irakli Kaishauri.
SkyAtlantida
OutfitterSkyAtlantida has offered booking and organization services in Gudauri since 2013, selling commercial tandem paragliding flights operated by certified, licensed pilots. Its base sits in a protected area in the center of the Gudauri ski resort, and the team page lists Anatoly Mykhailiuta as flight director and senior instructor. Beyond tandems it books paragliding courses on school equipment and winter snowmobile rides, and states that every activity follows international aviation and safety standards.
