Cluj stages two of Europe's biggest festivals a month apart, which no city its size has any right to do. UNTOLD fills the Cluj Arena and its surrounding parks each early August with over a hundred thousand people a day and a lineup that ranks it among the world's top festivals; Electric Castle takes over the grounds of the baroque-ruin Banffy Castle at Bontida each mid-July with a twenty-four-hour, four-day format, a quarter million attendees across the site, and 2026 headliners running from Twenty One Pilots to The Cure. Between editions, Cluj remains Transylvania's student capital, cheap, walkable, and awake.

Electric Castle runs mid-July, July 16-19 in 2026; UNTOLD runs early August, August 6-9 in 2026. Book Cluj lodging months out for either. Tickets are mid-priced by European festival standards and tier up from the winter sales.
Getting there & around
Cluj has a well-connected airport. Bontida is 30 minutes out with festival shuttles; the arena is in town. The two festivals bracket a month that empties every guesthouse in Transylvania.
