Why here
The St. Kitts Music Festival is the federation's flagship event, three nights of live music each June at the Warner Park Stadium in the middle of Basseterre. It began in 1996 as the Shak Shak Festival, launched to fill the island's quiet early-summer season, and grew into one of the anchor music events of the northern Caribbean, mixing reggae, soca, dancehall, R&B, soul and gospel across international headliners and Kittitian acts. The main stage sits inside the national cricket and football ground, so the crowd is close and the setting is the working heart of the capital rather than a resort. Around the stadium nights the town fills with fringe events, food and after-parties, and the whole federation leans into the weekend. For travellers it is the single best time to catch big Caribbean names on a small island where the festival still feels local.
Best months
A three-night festival held each year in late June at Warner Park Stadium in central Basseterre. The 2026 edition is the 28th. Nights run late, tickets are sold per night or as a full-festival pass, and the venue is an open stadium, so bring sun cover for daytime fringe events and expect warm, humid evenings. Accommodation on the island fills over the festival weekend, so book flights and rooms well ahead.
Getting there & around
The festival is staged at Warner Park Stadium in central Basseterre, within walking distance of the cruise port and downtown hotels, so no transport is needed once you are in the capital. Tickets are sold by the organising secretariat per night or as a festival pass. Flights arrive at Basseterre's Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw airport a short drive away. Rooms across Saint Kitts book out over the festival weekend, so reserve early.
