Kitesurfing in Hua HinTH

Thailand's kiteboarding hub on the Gulf coast: two monsoon seasons, waist-deep flat water for kilometers, and IKO schools three hours from Bangkok.

Why here

Hua Hin is Asia's easiest place to become a kitesurfer: the northeast monsoon delivers 15 to 25 knots from November to April over waist-deep, sandy-bottomed flat water that stretches for kilometers, the fastest safe progression conditions the sport offers, and a secondary southwest thermal season keeps wind on the coast most of the rest of the year. IKO itself profiles the town as a destination, ten-plus schools work the long beach, Kiteboard Tour Asia has raced here, and course prices undercut Europe and the Caribbean by half. Bangkok is three hours away with no flight required, which makes it the lowest-friction wind trip in Asia.

November through April is the prime northeast season, December to March the most consistent; May to October runs a lighter thermal season. Warm water year-round, no wetsuit. December-February books up with returning European riders.
