Flight Experiences in Jebel Jais

United Arab Emirates · Western Asia

The UAE's highest mountain, rising to about 1,934 metres in the Hajar range above Ras Al Khaimah. Cooler than the coast and cut with via ferrata routes, fixed cliffs and the world's longest zipline.

Why here

Jebel Jais is home to the world's longest zipline, the Jais Flight, a 2.83-kilometre wire strung across the Hajar mountains and certified by Guinness as the longest on the planet. You launch face-first in a superman harness from a platform high on the mountain and fly for close to three minutes above deep ravines and jagged limestone peaks, hitting speeds of up to 150 kilometres an hour before a second, shorter line brings you back down. Toroverde UAE, the zipline specialist that built and runs the course, also operates the multi-line Jais Sky Tour for those who want more airtime. It is the single most thrilling thing to do in the country, and the mountain air makes it bearable when the coast is baking.

The zipline runs in the cool season, roughly October to April, and closes in the peak summer heat. Flights are weather-dependent and can be paused for high wind. There are minimum and maximum weight limits and a safety briefing before you fly. Winter mornings on the summit are cold, so bring a layer for the wait.

Getting there & around

Moderate logistics

Jebel Jais is about a 45-minute drive up the mountain road from Ras Al Khaimah city and 90 minutes to two hours from Dubai. Book a timed slot online ahead of winter weekends; walk-ups are not guaranteed. A car or tour transfer is the only way up the mountain.
