Why here

EnergaCAMERIMAGE is the world's leading festival devoted to the art of cinematography, the one week a year when the people who light and frame films, rather than direct or star in them, take the spotlight. Founded in 1993 and running in Torun since 2019, it draws the top directors of photography and the directors who work with them to compete for the Golden Frog, with the industry's camera and lens makers, ARRI, Panavision, Zeiss, in tow. For a film lover it is a rare chance to watch the year's most beautifully shot work in a UNESCO-listed Gothic city, sit in on masterclasses and seminars with master cinematographers, and feel a festival built around craft rather than red-carpet celebrity. The 34th edition runs 7 to 14 November 2026.

The festival is held once a year in November, an eight-day program of competition screenings, retrospectives, seminars and workshops centerd on the CKK Jordanki hall. November in Torun is cold and often gray, so it is an indoors, cinema-and-seminar event. Accreditation and popular screenings sell out ahead of time, and the city fills with industry guests, so book travel and passes early.

Getting there & around

Moderate logistics

Torun is about two and a half to three hours from Warsaw by train and is compact enough to walk. The festival centers on the CKK Jordanki concert hall with screenings across the city; buy accreditation or tickets through the official site well in advance, as the November edition draws a large international industry crowd. Book accommodation early, and allow time to see the Copernicus-era Old Town between screenings.
